Why Bautista?

The Blessings of a Godly Husband

Life is not easy. God never promised the road would be smooth. In fact, he says that the proper road is the narrow road, the difficult road, the rocky road. In his faithfulness, however, He does give us means to maneuver the potholes which that narrow road holds. Christmas Blessings

Merry Christmas family and friends!

Many people today are frantically running around like elves with their heads cut off (rather a gruesome image, actually) trying to prepare for a celebration intended as a blessing of fulfillment. Wrapping, baking, last minute overpriced shipping, snapping at our loved ones, rushing from place to place just to “get it all in”…how does this speak of Christ? How much more would God rather we dropped to our knees at His feet, at His manger, with hearts filled with joy and truly gave this day to Him! How much more would he prefer that we stopped focusing on the wrapping, baking, shipping and rushing of this life and truly gave our lives and hearts to Him?

Personally, while in the world, I’ve found it a constant struggle to not be of the world in the area of celebration, trying to make everything “just right.” I fail at perfection, of course, which is why you’ll be getting your Christmas cards in January (if at all) and why I totally forgot to pick up my hubby’s gift in town. Far worse than late cards and missing gifts is how often I fail to maintain the focus. We all have our areas of weakness where we lose the focus God intended for us. We lose sight of the manger, of the cross, of the empty tomb, of the simple trust that is the crux of Christianity and salvation.

My prayer for you is that you maintain the focus not just today and tomorrow but throughout your lives. My prayer for you this morning is that you live not as Sunday morning Christians speaking nobly of sacrifice while denying your souls very little, but as true followers and believers of the living Lord Christ. Over 160 Old Testament prophecies made by dozens of men over thousands of years found their fulfillment in this small child whose birth we celebrate tomorrow. It is a salvation we don’t deserve, but that is given to us by a God who made us, loves us, and desperately wants to keep us. Amazing! Celebrate with your entire heart, not just nominally. Live the true meaning of the walk of faith. Don’t simply try to be like Christ. Trust and embrace the truth and depth, albeit remarkable simplicity, of God’s grace, and live every second for Him. He’s SO worth it!

I’m including the lyrics to Stephen’s Christmas song, “Who Would’ve Thought.” Hearing him sing this one never fails to give me goose bumps; okay, I’ll confess, it makes me cry! You obviously can’t hear him from there, but the words are a blessing in themselves.

Enjoy the day, celebrate the miracle, stay the path!

Bagasao Family August 23, 2008

Take a glimpse through my eyes into the world of the Bagasao family.

We are a Christian homeschooling family of eight. Our five daughters are the apple of their daddy’s eye, and our one son is a man in the making! My husband Stephen is a Christian contemporary musician whose Nashville-produced album Abandon launched our music ministry in 2007. I keep busy at home teaching, training, and tending my many blessings. I am also writing an ebook (among other things) to help others halve their grocery budgets as we have done over the years.
