Bagasao Children’s Prayer Club: Djiboutians

From the Bagasao children:

Every week we learn about a different country or a group of people needing prayer. We study their situation and then pray for them throughout the week.

Please join us in prayer for the Djiboutians.

Djibouti is a very small country, 900,000 square miles. It is located in eastern Africa between Ethiopia and Somalia. Because the French controlled the country until 1977, the Djiboutians speak French and Arabic. It is very hot in Djibouti, and it hardly ever rains. That causes drought so food doesn’t grow. Most of the people are poor and hungry. They try to forget their problems by chewing on khan leaves. Khan is a leaf that people use as a drug to make themselves dreamy and forget about their problems. It makes them not feel hungry. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dayak people are animists, people who live in fear of evil spirits. They believe they have to give offerings to rocks and other things to appease the evil spirits that they think live inside them. Read the rest of this entry »
